Kitchen Table Journalism
Dear friends,
If you would like an hour of strange and delightful respite from this world and/or a comedown from inauguration madness, I invite you to join me and pal Sarah Marshall (of my fave podcast "You're Wrong About") next Wednesday January 20th at 7pm on Zoom via the lovely Brooklyn-based Books Are Magic to celebrate the ***paperback release of The Third Rainbow Girl!*** Register for the event & order your paperback here. If you just want the book, may I suggest ordering it from your favorite local bookstore.
If you don't know Sarah's journalism, you absolutely should, for my writing has a crush on hers and vice versa, and also we both share a healthy ambivalence about the word "journalist." For years we have been making notes on gas receipts and postcards which we promptly lose about an idea we're calling "Kitchen Table Journalism," a kind of disorganized, unpretentious, distinctly feminine (think Grace Paley writing on scraps of paper shoved into her apron pocket between making soup for her kids), emotionally vulnerable, and at times even downright bonkers way of thinking about telling true stories.
We'll be in our best pajamas, caftans and cozy blankets on Wednesday, sitting at our kitchen tables, and ready to talk about our theory as well as taking questions from you, our friends/audience members about your own Kitchen Table Journalism projects, secrets, fears, and obsessions.
Register here.
Take good care,
Emma
